Building a picture of your oral health

X-rays & digital imaging

Wouldn’t it be fantastic if you could create a digital virtual record of your teeth to view on-screen with your dentist? At Caring Dental, using our state-of-the-art digital X-ray equipment and imaging technology, we can build a complete picture of your oral health, in incredible detail. By sharing and discussing these images, we can keep you fully informed and involved in your dental care and any treatment planning.

State-of-the-art technology

State-of-the-art technology

  • Digital X-rays
We use the latest digital X-ray equipment to quickly capture precise images, enabling us to fully assess your oral health and provide accurate treatment planning. This can include smaller X-rays taken within the mouth to examine specific areas in incredible detail, or panoramic X-rays, taken from the outside, to provide a comprehensive view of your entire mouth and jaws.
  • Intra-oral 3D scanner
This amazing digital scanner is used to create a virtual 3D record of your teeth so they can be monitored over time for any changes. The scanner is particularly used for highly-specialised guided implant planning, and also for crowns, bridges and dentures. Digital scans mean there is no need for unpleasant putty impressions!
  • Digital intra-oral camera
This tiny intra-oral camera enables us to show you ultra-close-up images of your teeth and areas of your mouth that are difficult to see. This can really help with understanding treatment and hygiene needs, and monitoring dental conditions.
  • CBCT scanner
Our cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scanner provides outstanding 3D images of teeth, soft tissues, nerves and bone. These high-resolution scans provide enhanced information, enabling extremely accurate diagnostics and planning for complex cases such as wisdom teeth removal, dental implants and root canal treatments.

A record of your dental health

  • If you are new to Caring Dental, digital X-rays (radiographs) will be taken as part of your initial examination. As a regular patient, new ones are typically taken every year or two, depending on your dental health and treatment needs. Our dentists will always explain the reason, and share the results on screen with you.
  • As the need arises, we may also use our state-of-the-art technology to create 3D images of your entire mouth, or of specific areas. Your dentist will use these for detailed examinations, precise treatment planning, and preventive care. They are also a great way to show you what’s happening in your mouth, and to help answer any questions you may have.
  • As your records increase over time, we can build a valuable picture of your dental health, past and present. By reviewing this visual history, we can monitor how your mouth changes and catch any problems at an early stage. This is one of the key benefits of regular attendance, and helps patients to maintain good dental health for years to come.
